If you are one who is asking what the next BMW M5 will actually look like, then wait no more. Our friends at TeamSpeed.com have an idea of what the newest BMW M5 (F10) will look like as shown in his latest renderings in addition to one from the infamous Jon Sibal found on M5Board.com. The next BMW M5 is expected to be a monster sporting well over 500 horsepower through a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 also found in the BMW X5M/X6M.
Rumors were going that BMW would drop its V10 engine, but that is now slightly invalidated because a brand new 5.5 liter V10 was recently presented at the company’s Nürburgring workshop. Reason is the 25th anniversary of the M-devision. Of course each coin has a flip side, this M5 CSL will be unique! The larger engine is created by increased stroke and other modifications such as a carbon fiber manifold, bigger air box and oil cooler. Another air duct was created on the front bumper

It is all hearsay until we get a firm conformation on this but, spy photographers recently caught a modified BMW M3 making rounds on the Nurburgring and no one knows the significance of it. Automotive experts, including us, believe that this could be a rendition of a BMW M3 GT. If you remember back in the 1990’s BMW turned its E36 BMW M3 into a M3 GT version so it could compete in certain classes in long distances races. What we could be witnessing is a high-performance BMW M3, not saying the current E90 and E92 M3 is not a high-performance vehicle, but this could be something that pushes the envelope in terms of a M3. To further support the idea of a BMW M3 GT is Kay Segler, head of BMW’s M division, who has mentioned that the production version of the current M3 GT4, the M3 race car, is something that could be considered.

We were just tipped off from our friends at worldcarfans.com about new spy shots of the upcoming BMW M5 making it’s rounds around the Nurburgring. The front end sports the typical “camouflage” that they plaster on prototypes during testing to so-called disguise the vehicle. As if we can’t make out the front end of the new M5 shown in the images below. HA! So what’s under the hood? That’s the $100,000 question right? Well, we are pretty sure it is the new 4.4-liter twin turbo that pumps out 555hp which is currently found in the BMW X5 M and X6 M.

Not many tuners have touched the BMW Z4 let alone turned it into a tuners dream-car until now. Manhart Racing, a German company known for stuffing big V10’s and V12’s in cars that were never originally designed for them, has taken the BMW M5’s V10 and put it in one of their latest creations, a BMW Z4M. Already, the Z4 M is not slouch sharing the S54 engine from the BMW M3 producing about 343hp. Why not slap a supercharger on that inline-6, no no, Manhart had to take it a few notches up… BAAM… A big V10 powers this Z4. Obviously stuffing the mammoth V10 from the E60 M5 was no easy task but they did that and were able to squeeze another 50hp out of it.

Let the rumors begin! The next BMW M5 is starting to be the talk of automotive enthusiasts lately. With BMW’s introduction of powerful twin turbo engines (BMW X5M, BMW X6M) everyone is wondering what the new M5 will pack… a twin turbo V8 or maybe a twin turbo V10? What about the drivetrain? An 8-speed DCT or an improved version of the 7-speed SMG? No matter what the new M5, due out in 2012, will have under the powerdome, it will have more than 550hp. Supposedly the new M5 will sport a KERS system similar to the one found in the Formula 1 that offers selective cylinder shut-down to conserve fuel in certain situations.

While the BMW M5 has topped Top Gear’s list of four door sports sedans for what seems like forever, the Bavarian bombshell suddenly has plenty of competition, the newest of which is the Jaguar XFR. TG wanted to see which vehicle was better on the track and around town, and naturally, Jeremy Clarkson volunteered to work as judge and jury. Clarkson spent all of his time behind the wheel of a right hand drive XFR, and he seemed surprised and delighted at the Leaping Cat’s power and handling. Clarkson calls the cushy ride of the XFR “so soft and it’s so absorbent, it’s like sitting on a fat dog.” But this plump puppy has 503 hp, and “80 more torques” than the BMW, while both vehicles’ weight is about the same.
