Filed under: Car Buying , Sedan , Chevrolet , Hyundai , Nissan , Suzuki 2010 Nissan Altima and 2011 Hyundai Sonata - Click either image above for high-res image gallery The minds at Consumer Reports have just wrapped up testing on a handful of family sedans. The publication lined up the Chevrolet Impala , Hyundai Sonata , Nissan Altima and Suzuki Kizashi for a four-door throw down, and by the time the dust settled, Nissan and Hyundai reigned supreme. Both the four-cylinder Altima and Sonata racked up 'Excellent' ratings from the Consumer Reports testers, but only the Altima managed to walk away with the coveted 'Recommended' badge - the Sonata is too new for CR to weigh in on the Big Hyun's reliability. Likewise, the Kizashi secured an 'Excellent' rating, though missed out on the honor of being 'Recommended' for the same reason. The same can't be said for the Chevrolet Impala.

Filed under: Coupe , Performance , Ford , Hyundai , Nissan , Reviews V6 Sports Car Comparison - Click above for high-res image gallery This comparison test couldn't have happened just a few short months ago. Sure, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe has been around since 2009. And not counting a seven-year walkabout, the Datsun/Nissan Z has been with us in one form or another since the first moon landing. Want to talk old? The Ford Mustang dates back to the invention of the wheel. At least it seems that way. So why no comparison until now? Because until quite recently, Ford's entry level V6-powered Mustang was never really a sports car. The heavy, near impotent Cologne iron-block V6 was a joke, fit for little more than rental car duty, and it wasn't even terribly adept at that.

Filed under: Budget , Sedan , Hyundai , Misc. Auto Shows 2011 Hyundai Elantra / Avante - Click above for high-res image gallery Hyundai has been very busy lately as it progresses through round two of its 24/7 product renewal program. Just days after unveiling the new Accent/Verna in Beijing , Hyundai has revealed its next generation Elantra/Avante at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea. Like the smaller Accent, the Elantra has picked up the "fluidic sculpture" styling cues of its big brother the Sonata . By virtue of its larger size, the Elantra retains more of the sleeker profile of the Sonata and doesn't look as stubby as the Accent. Like the Sonata, the new Elantra gets a direct injected inline-four, in this case a 1.6-liter based on the Gamma engine family. For the Elantra the GDI 1.6 generates 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque. In combination with a new six-speed automatic transmission, the Elantra should get about 10 percent better fuel economy. The Avante will go on sale in South Korea in the second half of this year and we'd expect to see it state-side with Elantra badges early in 2011

Filed under: Budget , Crossover , Hyundai , Reviews 2010 Hyundai Tucson - Click above for high-res image gallery Like it or not, the small crossover segment is booming. Not only are budget-minded automakers all putting forth their best efforts to create new-and-improved vehicles for the class, even higher-end manufacturers like Audi , BMW and Mercedes-Benz are getting into the act hoping to win over customers looking for a more premium experience. Why? These vehicles offer an excellent coupling of both utility and economy - two of the most important must-haves for the vast majority of new car shoppers. We recently invited the latest small CUV offering from Hyundai , the 2010 Tucson , into the Autoblog Garage for a week, and found it to be a stylish, useful workhorse for everyday tasks that doesn't sacrifice too much in the way of driving enjoyment. What's more, with a sticker starting at $19,995, it's quite a bargain. But just because the Tucson carries a wallet-friendly price doesn't mean it lacks refinement or quality.

Filed under: New York Auto Show , Hybrid , Sedan , Technology , Videos , Hyundai 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid - Click above for high-res image gallery It wasn't that many years ago that no one really took the engineering capabilities of Hyundai all that seriously. Thanks to recent introductions like the Genesis coupe and sedan , the Tucson and the Sonata , as well as consistently improving quality, the Korean automaker is rapidly gaining respect. Today at the 2010 New York Auto Show , Hyundai debuted its first production hybrid model for the U.S. market based on the recently launched 2011 Sonata. As we saw in the teaser photo released last Friday, Hyundai has set its hybrid apart from conventional models with an all-new front fascia

Enough about me, the winners are the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and the 2010 Ford Transit Connect. Last year I was cool with the decision to crown the Hyundai Genesis and Ford F-150 as I was in previous years. Okay, great, excellent vehicles. My only gripe this year would be the Ford Transit Connect.

Yes, that’s right; Kia has introduced sketches of their upcoming Kia K9 luxury sedan. The counterparts rumored to be a part of this upcoming Korean luxury sports sedan are shared with the Hyundai Genesis sedan. The Kia K9 would virtually be a sister car to that of the Genesis Sedan sporting a V8. Would that put a Kia up against the likings of an Audi A8 and BMW 7-series? Only time will tell.

Love it or hate it, this is really it, the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We have witnessed several renditions of what the new Hyundai Sonata would look like and some of them were not off by far. The new stylish design resembles that of a VW Passat CC or even the Benz CLS with roof lines that mimic a coupe. Visually the car looks totally different from one end to the other. Hyundai is no longer the “el-cheapo” car from Korea (same goes for the sister nameplate Kia), it is the one that gives Toyota’s Camry and Honda’s Accord a run for their money in more ways than just the 10-year powertrain warranty. The 2011 Hyundai Sonata does not just go up against the normal run-of-the-mill Camry or Accord

GReddy’s developed a showcase 2.0T Hyundai Genesis Coupe for the upcoming SEMA show chock full of goodies including custom bodywork and paint, suspension bits, but most importantly, a bigger intercooler, cat-back exhaust. It’ll need it to hit its 500HP goal. As the faint report of the SEMA crazy train whistles in the distance, every tuner in the universe is coming out with their version of the next best thing, GReddy seems to be throwing everything at the Genesis Coupe this year, which was something of an unofficial darling of last years show, right up there with Nissan GT-R and Dodge Challenger. This car tarts things up with a de riguer body kit with a new front fascia and splitter, rear spoiler, side skirts, look-at-me paintjob and loud graphics, intercooler, cat-back exhaust, “racing” downpipe, an adjustable coil-over suspension and six-piston front, four-piston rear brakes

The new Toyota FT-86 Concept, recently revealed to the world, actually makes me think of the AE86, not because of the body code similarities (AE86 vs. FT-86, but offering an affordable rear-wheel-drive sports coupe. It is about time Toyota offered something exciting.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Rendering In a week’s time, Hyundai will be officially introducing the world to its latest iteration of the Sonata. If the success of the Genesis (Hyundai’s larger coupe/sedan), both in sales and drive-ability is any indication, we have a lot to be excited about. The good news for us, and certainly a headache for Hyundai, photographs of this big release have been leaked for the world to drool over. more, posto de jumpo… Hyundai is making big moves in the auto industry, causing the management of Honda and Toyota to increase their stock of antiperspirants. A press release by Hyundai North America, issued on the second, listed August’s sales at just over 60,000 units, which is an increase of 47% from August 2008, and 33% from the previous month. Which is miraculous numbers considering the financial hardships many of us are facing. With America’s best warranty (10 year 100k miles), innovative design and finish, a vehicle return program, and Gas Lock price protection, Hyundai is becoming a formidable opponent for companies that have been sitting comfortably atop the sales charts. They have managed to move their line-up from cars people were forced to buy due to budgetary restraints, to cars people actually want to purchase. If you do not realize how hard a task that is to do, send an inquiry to Kia , they will tell you all about it. To see how well Hyundai’s fit and finish is, schedule a test drive and see for yourself. Check back with us, for as soon as the official specifications and media are released we will have you updated with the information you need. In the mean time, drool over the teaser photos and practice saying the Hyundai name, as it is soon to be the topic of many a car discussion.
