The new package includes aerodynamic updates, ultra-light aluminum rims, and powerful engine enhancements. The aerodynamic package includes plenty of carbon fiber add-ons such as front and rear aprons, side skirts, bonnet, and mudguards. The package also includes large air inlets to provide plenty of fresh air for the Cayenne’s 4.8 liter turbo engine. The car sits on fully forged 10x22 inch mono block rims in turbine design. That 4.8L turbo will also be getting an upgrade thanks to larger turbo chargers and a stainless steel sports exhaust system. At the 2011 Chicago Auto Show, Dodge will be unveiling a new and affordable performance package for the 2011 Durango , one that will henceforth be called the Dodge Durango Heat. Though it doesn’t come with the same HEMI powertrain of the performance-oriented Durango R/T, the Durango Heat does come with some attractive features of its own. First is an aggressive styling that underlies its inner beast. Then there’s the new Pentastar V6 engine, which, despite its less powerful engine compared to its R/T alter ego, promises to make up for it in terms of fuel efficiency. According to Ralph Giles, Dodge’s president and CEO, the Durango Heat "is about handling performance and a street presence that puts the sport in sport-utility." Joining the Durango R/T at show will be four other R/T models, including the Charger R/T, the Challenger R/T, the Grand Caravan R/T, and the Journey R/T. Incidentally, the last two models are the first of its line to be outfitted with Dodge’s road & track setup. Similar to the Durango Heat revealed earlier, the Durango R/T comes with a bevy of aesthetic improvements and performance modifications. Essentially, both the Durango R/T and the Durango Heat are the same models except for one pretty important aspect: engine performance. Regardless of the different powertrains, Dodge has set high expectations for both the Durango R/T and the Durango Heat within the full-size SUV segment

Filed under: SUV , Marketing/Advertising , Chrysler , Dodge According to an Autoblog source, Dodge will abandon the Durango nameplate for the model's replacement due for 2012. In place of that two-generation designator, Chrysler is exhuming the Magnum nameplate, a moniker used on the low-slung wagon built on Chrysler's LX platform up until 2008. The new Magnum is expected to be built atop the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee chassis (itself riding on Mercedes-Benz -derived architecture) and skew more toward the crossover segment than the previous rough-and-ready SUV. Our source originally showed us a screen capture of a Pentastar service training software page on its Chrysler Academy Learning Center confirming the Magnum's existence (shown above), but at that time, he wasn't clear what the vehicle was.
