Filed under: Hybrid , Hatchback , Chevrolet , Electric Chevrolet Volt - General Motors ' recently hired vice-president for sales and marketing Joel Ewanick took the stage at the Plug-In 2010 conference in San Jose, CA today and finally revealed that the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will have a base price of $41,000 (including a $720 destination charge) before federal and state tax incentives. While GM hasn't gone as aggressive as most people had hoped on the sticker price, the real deal appears to be the $350 per month for 36 months lease. That matches the monthly payment that Nissan is charging for the Leaf EV . The effective purchase price of the Volt will be cut to $33,500 with a $7,500 federal tax credit (hence the asterisk in the title), but buyers will have to finance the $41,000 and get the credit back on their next tax return. Lease customers will have the credit factored in to their payment. The Volt lease requires a $2,500 down payment (vs $2,000 for the Leaf), but GM is including a clause in the lease contract that allows leasers to buy the car at the end of their term so that the automaker don't have another standoff with customers like it did with the all-electric EV1. Follow the jump to learn more about the Volt's price and how the order process will go, but first take our informal poll below.

Filed under: Hybrid , Hatchback , Chevrolet , Electric 2011 Chevrolet Volt - Click above for high-res image gallery During a live video webchat this afternoon, Tony DiSalle, marketing director for the Chevrolet Volt , announced the production volumes for the first two years. General Motors plans to build 10,000 Volts by the end of the 2011 calendar year, with another 30,000 units coming in 2012. There will be a relatively slow production ramp up during the first year as the automaker learns to build the Volt as well as well as picking up lessons from cars in the field. Chevrolet dealers will have to meet some minimum qualifications in order to sell the Volt. For instance, every dealer authorized to sell the Volt will have to maintain at least one demonstrator vehicle in stock so that potential customers can test drive it.

The all-new 2010 Mazda 3s 4-door Grand Touring edition offers the consumer bolder styling, more power and performance, more comfortable interior and added standard safety systems. The car is an overall sophistication that ventures beyond the sport-compact segment to rival import models costing thousands more. Realizing that the Zoom-Zoom emotional spirit is both static and dynamic, Mazda gave the new 3i a more expressive and sophisticated interior and exterior with added sportiness. New features-many of which are borrowed from the new Mazda6-are also introduced in here with the aid of exceeding constantly rising consumer expectations. Ultimately, Mazda designed and engineered a whole new Mazda3 that blends the best of the first-generation with large and small refinements in countless areas. It begins with the bold grille that is purposely polarizing. It is the new ‘face’ of Mazda

The all-new 2010 Lexus HS250h hybrid will keep more of your money in your pockets as you pass gas stations, and will also have you seated in a Lexus with all of the luxury, convenience and safety that you expect from a Lexus. The Lexus HS250h is the first luxury hybrid to achieve an EPA Estimated Rating of 35mpg combined and is the first luxury car to come standard with a supplemental restraint system with 10 airbags. Hybrid efficiency is at the core of the new HS250h and Lexus’s first four-cylinder gas engine and latest hybrid system take advantage of the company’s continuous engineering advances to maximize fuel economy, minimize emissions and deliver driving pleasure. A highly efficient engine design, an exhaust heat recovery system, major efforts to reduce parasitic losses, a new evaporative emissions system and driver-selectable driving modes all make notable contributions. Significant efforts were also made to minimize engine noise. An Atkinsion-cycle engine design was chosen for its high efficiency and compatibility with hybrid operation in the new HS. The twin-cam engine uses four-valves per cylinder and Variable Valve Time with Intelligence on the intake side. The engine is undersquare, with an 88.5mm bore diameter and 96mm stroke, and has a relatively high compression ratio of 12.5:1. Peak output equals 147hp and in combination with the hybrid drive motor, the HS generates 187 total system horsepower. That is the most of any other dedicated hybrid motor.
